What Does It Mean to Be a Kukkiwon-Certified Instructor?

The Kukkiwon, also known as the World Tae Kwon Do Headquarters, is the official governing body for Tae Kwon Do worldwide. Based in South Korea, it is recognized as the global authority for setting standards in training, technique, and certification.

A Kukkiwon-certified instructor has undergone rigorous training and testing to meet the highest standards of Tae Kwon Do proficiency and teaching. Certification signifies expertise in the art, adherence to global standards, and a commitment to preserving Tae Kwon Do’s traditions.

Kukkiwon certification is a mark of credibility and excellence. It ensures that students receive authentic, high-quality instruction from a recognized expert in the field. Training under a Kukkiwon-certified instructor means students are learning techniques and philosophies aligned with the global Tae Kwon Do community.

To earn certification, instructors must:
Achieve a high-level black belt rank recognized by the Kukkiwon.
Demonstrate mastery of advanced techniques and forms.
Pass rigorous testing and meet strict standards for teaching ability, leadership, and character.
